The writer states that the method of preventing colliery explosions proposed in "A Remedy for Colliery Explosions," Dec. 18, 1850, is but a partial and uncertain method; he endorses the system of Government inspection urged in the editorial comment at the end of the article "A Coal Miner's Evidence," Dec. 7, 1850.
